Kellie was awarded the second-highest score—a 26 out of 30—on the
second episode Monday (March 25), finishing behind 16-year-old Disney
Channel star Zendaya Coleman, who is, among other things, a professional
dancer. Zendaya scored 27 out of 30, giving her a two-day total of 50
out of 60. Kellie has a two-day total of 47 out of 60.
The crowd went bonkers when Kellie and shirtless partner Derek Hough showed off their incredibly toned bodies and alternatively whipped and glided across the dance floor while performing a smoky
jazz-style dance.
And the judges gushed. Bruno Tonioli called the performance "technically superb" and Carrie Ann Inaba said she was "blown away." But Len Goodman said it best when he summed up the performance: "For week two, last week was a spark, this week was a fire!"
As for Kellie's country cousin Wynonna, the judges said she improved from her first week, but they gave her the same score, an 18 out of 30.
Wynonna put her heart and soul into learning the quick-step, even shedding a tear or two during rehearsal. But Partner Tony Dovolani described Wy to a T, saying, "Wynonna is very critical of herself. But she's one of those people, when she puts her mind to something she's going to do it." And she certainly did. Wynonna gave a solid performance that the judges described as safe and entertaining. But Carrie Ann is looking for Wy to "take a risk" and "up it a notch."
Nonetheless, Wy continues to score the best lines on the show. Her partner, Tony Dovolani, asked Wy what her motivation was for the week. "To not pee my pants," Wy said, smiling. "I mean, seriously."
